I think it is necessary to recall...remember... that "the Warning" is a act of justice and mercy. God desires all His children to be saved. We must encourage all to trust Gods mercy "post the shock of justice and mercy". I recall on several occasions as a child...it was the very stern verbal rebuke by an elder or a physical slap to my face that "rattled my cage". I felt shocked, surprized, embarrased , angry, confused and hurt... but with time and reflection... it caused me to recognize my foolishness. I look back and appreciate those who knocked some common sence into my thick skull. A good slap in the face would do us good even though I know it will be painful. Without justice there can be no mercy and without mercy there can be no justice... as long as its done in Love. God is Love so let the slapping commence.

Timothius, the chastisement is going to be a terrible thing for mankind.
I can only keep on praying... "For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have Mercy on us and on the whole world."

I don't think you really meant what you said, but you reminded me of part of todays (Wednesdays) Gospel.

    JOHN 5 25-29
25 "Truly, truely, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself, 27 and has given him authority to execute judgement, because he is the Son of man. 28 Do not marvel at this: for the hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice.

Hi Jane...I think you might have mixed it up...I was speaking about "the Warning" mentioned at Garabandal. The Chastisement is a different event altogether. I totally agree...the Chastisement will be a severe event and we should pray it is mitigated. The Warning however...though it will be painful... will effect immence good as it will wake people from thier sin where upon repentance may be had. The analogy of a slap could be made of the Warning or perhaps I'm reading it wrong altogether...at any rate...divine intervention is welcomed and warranted.

Jane, Timothius is correct, there are three events mentioned in the Garabandal apparitions, "The Warning" (an illumination of your conscience), " The Miracle", a sign left in the sky forever at Garabandal. and "The Chastisement" ,a punishment for not heeding the Warning & Miracle. Now ONLY the Warning & Miracle are guaranteed to happen, the Chastisement is "conditional", depending on mankind's response to the Warning & Miracle.

The October 1981 issue of the German magazine Stimme des Glaubens reported on a discussion that Pope John Paul II had with a select group of German Catholics, in November of 1980. The following is a verbatim report of the discussion (Note 1):

    Text of the Published Report

The Holy Father was asked, "What about the Third Secret of Fatima? Should it not have already been published by 1960?"

"Pope John Paul II replied: "Given the seriousness of the contents, my predecessors in the Petrine office diplomatically preferred to postpone publication so as not to encourage the world power of Communism to make certain moves.

"On the other hand, it should be sufficient for all Christians to know this: if there is a message in which it is written that the oceans will flood whole areas of the earth, and that from one moment to the next millions of people will perish, truly the publication of such a message is no longer something to be so much desired."

The Pope continued: "Many wish to know simply from curiosity and a taste for the sensational, but they forget that knowledge also implies responsibility. They only seek the satisfaction of their curiosity, and that is dangerous if at the same time they are not disposed to do something, and if they are convinced that it is impossible to do anything against evil."

At this point the Pope grasped a Rosary and said: "Here is the remedy against this evil. Pray, pray, and ask for nothing more. Leave everything else to the Mother of God."

The Holy Father was then asked: "What is going to happen to the Church?"

He answered: "We must prepare ourselves to suffer great trials before long, such as will demand of us a disposition to give up even life, and a total dedication to Christ and for Christ … With your and my prayer it is possible to mitigate this tribulation, but it is no longer possible to avert it, because only thus can the Church be effectively renewed. How many times has the renewal of the Church sprung from blood! This time, too, it will not be otherwise. We must be strong and prepared, and trust in Christ and His Mother, and be very, very assiduous in praying the Rosary."

    1. John Paul II, interview with Catholics at Fulda Germany, Nov. 1980,
published in the German Magazine, "Stimme des Glaubens," English found in
Daniel J. Lynch, "The Call to Total Consecration to the Immaculate Heart
of Mary" (St. Albans, Vermont: Missions of the Sorrowful and Immaculate
Heart of Mary, Pub., 1991), pp. 50-51.

Notice this line: With your and my prayer it is possible to mitigate this tribulation, but it is no longer possible to avert it, because only thus can the Church be effectively renewed.

The first part of this came from an EWTN page, the second from a Fatima website. I can't read the original German story myself.

Thanks Mark for that. I didn't think we could escape the chastisement, but God is merciful so we can mitigate it.
    Pray the Rosary.

Interesting how he said "Many wish to know simply from curiosity and a taste for the sensational,". I was speaking to a priest for a long while last week, and he too said people seem to like the 'fear'. o_O
I must admit. I love going on scary rides that spin you upside down.

I suppose the question is 'when'?
    Who knows.
He will come like "a thief in the night."

It is always good to be reminded that His coming will be like a thief in the night.(y)

I found it really interesting as I thought about this tonight, that the same chapter in scripture that descrides the "thief" also tells us how not to let it be a thief for us (1 Thessalonians 5). And the prescription is:
    1. Put on the armor of God: faith, hope, love (<- as it paraphrases Ephesians 6)
    2. Be awake and alert
    3. Pay attention to prophecies that are warnings:
    1 Thessalonians 5
1 But as to the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need to have anything written to you. 2 For you yourselves know well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. 3 When people say, "There is peace and security," then sudden destruction will come upon them as travail comes upon a woman with child, and there will be no escape. 4 But you are not in darkness, brethren, for that day to surprise you like a thief. 5 For you are all sons of light and sons of the day; we are not of the night or of darkness. 6 So then let us not sleep, as others do, but let us keep awake and be sober. 7 For those who sleep sleep at night, and those who get drunk are drunk at night. 8 But, since we belong to the day, let us be sober, and put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. 9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, 10 who died for us so that whether we wake or sleep we might live with him. 11 Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing. 12 But we beseech you, brethren, to respect those who labor among you and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, 13 and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves. 14 And we exhort you, brethren, admonish the idlers, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. 15 See that none of you repays evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to all. 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray constantly, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 19 Do not quench the Spirit, 20 do not despise prophesying, 21 but test everything; hold fast what is good, 22 abstain from every form of evil. 23 May the God of peace himself sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 24 He who calls you is faithful, and he will do it. 25 Brethren, pray for us. 26 Greet all the brethren with a holy kiss. 27 I adjure you by the Lord that this letter be read to all the brethren. 28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

I was just reading through this thread for the first time and just have to wonder if Pat333 was Conchita's husband? He seemed to have such a great grasp and almost personal insight on these events and they seemed much more hopeful than fearful.

I highly doubt it, since they avoided the internet, and Patrick was sick for the last 6 months before he passed away on Oct.31st. Padraig can probably confirm my opinion from the registry.

I do believe that pat333 was a false prophet called one of the two patrick's from Ireland? I think so if I remember right.
