I also saw the movie. I agree that is lacking the secrets and the word"Russia and Communism!, but at least the message of the importance of praying the rosary is emphasized throughout the movie. Our Lady acts in mysterious ways.
I tried watching it again but now I was unable to as it's been put in private mode as many of you have already stated. Maybe I just stumbled across it before it got changed. Oh well. I was actually pretty disappointed in the film. There were so many important things that were left out. Film was too politically correct. They should have told the story the way it really happened, not to try and market it to non-Catholics. I won't spoil it for those who still wish to see it.
Yes, I was a bit disappointed in it. I was expecting more. It was as if they were too afraid of offending certain people. It was too politically correct, so they could market it to the greater public. They left out so much and put in other things that just didn't happen. Eg. Angel of Peace appeared to all three children, not just Lucia, and it was a young male, not a woman. Simple things like that. They should have follow Sr Lucia's diary as much as possible. The 13th Days was quite good but the 1952 version is still my favourite, probably because I'm sentimental and that's all I grew up with.
I completely agree with Taylor Marshall's review posted above, excellent. Every film is different, there are always things that are off, and this film was no exception. Important facts, such as the errors of Russia were missing, etc. On the other hand, the film should be praised for focusing on the Rosary; there was a constant message to pray the rosary every day, as well as suffering, and doing penance for insulting Our Lord. The Immaculate Heart of Mary was mentioned, and Her bleeding, and wounded heart was a startling moment for the children. Visually there was something off with some scenes that looked out of focus and was unnecessary. The children's vision of hell was well done. I have to say that Our Lady looked very beautiful, and I thought the actress did a good job, as well as the children. Yes, Catholics who were raised with the story of Fatima will see the film's flaws, but I do think it is worth watching. There are not many opportunities to see a new film of this nature.
I haven’t as yet seen it, but your review reflects much of what I’ve heard. I’ll be disappointed for the same reasons. I was really looking forward to it. Now I’ll watch it, but at least I’ll not have high expectations.
Hi all, did anyone else who watched the film notice that the actress that played the BVM, Joana Ribeiro, also played the part of a woman (wealthy maybe), in the crowd buying a rosary? I saw her in two scenes near the end.
