Is Trump really pro life, or is he just pandering for votes?

As with all here, I truly believe that President Trump has a sincere heart and duly gives his heart to God. Many prayers for him and his family as after this day those who wish him harm will be working overtime.

I have had the same thoughts. There is an endless list of priests, bishops, Cardinals & even Popes throughout the history of the Church (and many priests in China in the present that we probably won't hear about until we cross over the veil) who faced evil in various forms, never once relenting or cowering, priests who literally stood up against entire armies, headed by the most brutal of dictators, who stood bravely when having to face the pointed barrel of a machine-gun, or endured working to death after being sentenced to a slave labor camp. Many were imprisoned and starved to death. As for today, we don't have to call out any names (we all know who they are) the highly ordained who do not have enough spine & are too timid to stand up to a physician holding a pair of blood drenched forceps.

I just saw some good but naive Catholics promoting a “pro life third party” presidential candidate for 2020.

I wasted my vote on a pro life third party candidate for president in 2016. It was a mistake borne out of hubris and a pietistic Never Trumperism.

It’s too late in the game for that nonsense.

Trump has PROVEN to be the single most pro life president in history, putting strong actions behind his rhetoric.

Any pro life Catholic still persevering in this MSM generated Never Trumpism is a victim of very effective and nefarious leftist propaganda, combined with hubristic pietism.

A third party vote this fall is a vote for Biden.

It speaks volumes about what the abortion industry has to say about about President Trump. That ALONE for those sitting on the fence, still not knowing who to vote for, give them something to think about. For if YOU believe in GOD then the choice is crystal clear. Trump is where you must cast your vote.

    Planned Parenthood on Trump:

And what does Planned Parenthood have to say about the phony Catholic Biden, you ask?:

For we must let our morality and conscience guide our vote.

Joe Biden is that kind of politician who would sell his granny to get into power.

Love ya Brian, but respectfully disagree. A Third party vote is just that, a third party vote. We aren't required to vote the lessor of two evils.

Trump's Supreme Court pick Gorsuch can't even get LGBT cases right; doesn't inspire confidence in Trump's vetting process (or motivation to actually morally conservative judges) for the high court.

Simply put -this country is doomed unless it turns back to Christ. The political landscape is merely a reflection of what is going on within the culture. And the political landscape is rotten to the core. Only Our Lord and Lady will save us.

If you can compare Biden and his Marxist entourage and record, with that of Trump’s presidency, and still say a vote for Trump in this scenario is “just” a vote for the “lessor of two evils,” then yes, indeed, we’ll have to respectfully disagree.

I cannot agree with a lack of reason and discernment.

I'd say the lack of reason and discernment is one thinking that voting for someone who would be proud to hold the flag below is somehow not representing evil.

I honestly have zero desire to debate with a rock solid Catholic over political causes, so I'll bow out.

Prayers always for you Brian and if you can spare some for me I'd be very grateful.

Yep, manipulated by his children and their spouses, this is Trump’s biggest, most glaring blind spot.

Despite this, to vote against Trump this election is to vote for the Marixists.

I personally don't like Trump. I find it somewhat arrogant. However, I prefer a president like Trump who defends life to someone like Biden who says he is Catholic, but defends abortive death.

I’m starting to think that’s just a “buffoon persona” that Trump puts on solely the disarm his opponents and make them underestimate him.

Repeatedly, people who know him personally report a kind, caring and generous gentleman not at all like his public persona.

Frankly, I’m convinced he’s been an FBI informant and cooperator for decades who is intensely decent and patriotic, that buffoon persona permitted him to get close to FBI targets, and that’s why repeated investigations have found nothing on him.

I’m certainly open to being proven wrong and will gladly admit it if such is proven.

There’s just more to Trump than meets the (MSM) eye, and Melania is definitely a very wholesome and Catholic influence on him.

Having been a “pro life leader” of a small but national group fighting euthanasia, I was invited to quarterly national pro life meetings of all the big pro life leaders in the country in Washington DC.

Name the pro life leader and I probably sat next to them at least once during these meetings, or ate lunch or dinner or had cocktails with them.

Yes, there are certain problems with the pro life leadership. (I never fit in, I wasn’t “Type A personality“ enough.)

As a whole, though, they were able to discern a fraud or a charlatan from a mile away.

They KNOW Trump is genuinely pro life. I trust their discernment in this matter.

With time he’ll see the errors of his ways regarding LGBT issues, too.

  19. Three ideas being addressed here...

1 "Choosing the lesser of two evils"...
    Actually this is a misnomer.
We as Christians are not allowed to ever choose evil.
But what we are doing in voting for an imperfect pro-life candidate is choosing to limit evil (abortion), which is to do good.

    2. The perfect is sometimes the enemy of the good.
When choosing between voting for an imperfect pro-life candidate (Trump) and a pro-life 3rd party party candidate who may be better other issues, an important consideration is if we anticipate that the 3rd party candidate has a reasonable chance at winning or not.

An imperfect analogy would be the following:
5 children are in a sinking boat far out in the lake.
You must act fast, so you swim out.
You are exhausted from the waves and are barely staying afloat yourself.

    - You realize you have a decent chance swim one to shore, but the others will likely drown.
    - Or you can try to swim all of them in at the same time, but because of the waves and exhaustion there is a 99.9% chance you will all drown.

Your intent is to do good either way. You wish to save as many lives AS YOU CAN. But the likelihood of all perishing must be considered.

So, also, the end result of our vote must also be considered. Will our vote have the intended effect? Or is it an exercise in futility.

I could just write in my own name and all my decisions would be in line with Catholic teaching, but I would not win, so it would be one less vote for a pro life candidate that has a good chance of winning.

    3. Hierarchy of values. Is affordable housing, gay "rights" etc etc as important as 60 million lives lost?
