Thanks for the references. At first glance, it appears that Pope Francis is sailing very close to the heresy of fideism. Fideism is a total reliance on experienced faith without intellectual support. According to the Catholic Encyclopaedia, which Bergoglio hasn't yet condemned as far as I know, 'fideism...logically ruins faith itself'. I'll read on and get back to you when I've absorbed a bit more. I wish Pope Francis would stop his aggresive proselytisation of his opinions. He comes across as one who just wants to win an argument and even shuts up some people who don't agree with him. He is trying to convince and persuade us, in the most rigid manner, of his views on evangelisation, yet his views are that convincing and persuading are precisely what we mustn't do. If he practiced what he preached, he would simply shut up and put on his best smile (how I wish). Indeed, according to his own words, his proselytising of these opinions of his, his attempting to 'persuade' us of his views is 'sinful'. Unless, of course, he is not trying to 'persuade' us, in which case we can blithely ignore him. Pope Francis thinks that offering the Truth to another is an act of 'manipulation' and 'force'. But, in presenting Truth, one is offering the other person the opportunity to realise and accept this Truth through their own powers of reason. The logic of Pope Francis is that those being 'persuaded' lack the powers of reason or are gravely deficient. It reminds me starkly of Kasper's low opinion of Africans. To look upon such an attitude most benignly, it seems condescending and arrogant and assumes the inability of the proselytised to cope with argument. Is that the reason why they won't try and convert the Pachamamma people-because they deem them too intellectually inferior to make their own minds up? Francis quotes Revelation 3:20 "Look, I am at the door and I am calling, do you want to open the door?" as support for his passive 'witness' (translation: saying nothing), but does not seem to notice that Christ has firstly commanded 'look' and has told us he is 'calling'. Christ's call, by definition, must involve language and in the context indicates language intended to 'persuade' one that it is worthwhile opening the door. Seems much more like proselytisation than silent witness to me. Francis would have Christ standing mute and unknown of outside the door.
I would fear she is in the process of forming her own church. She's interesting, but I'd recommend caution. She's also too divisive. It's not good to see controversy amounting to nothing more than the word of one person against another.
The thing is, no one in the hierarchy is addressing the issue of what Benedict XVI actually stated in his 'resignation' - he did not resign the munus. So, Ann is not trying to be purposely divisive. She is after the truth. It is Bergoglio who is divisive, and he is trying very hard to dismantle the Catholic Church. +
There was no need to publicly throw Christopher Ferrara, of all people, under the bus. Things are factionalised enough on our side and many good people are attempting to minimise our differences against a liberal side that is far too clever to engage in divisive public infighting. Bergoglio isn't one bit divisive against his own side.
With those I discuss things, we voice concern for Francis, why prophetic background and need for prayer. That's about as far as we take it. A good friend is very fond of him as she felt a release of anxiety when her daughter went to Italy. Finding herself in a Papal audience, the pope blessed all families. That was the moment my friend stopped feeling anxious. I believe that was in his 1st year.
When Pope Francis visited the US in the Fall of 2015, Amoris Laetitia was not yet released. That came along in 2016. My point is that the nuns from Carmel in Southern Maryland left the cloister and went to the National Shrine, where in their own words, they stood tall and struggled to get a closer look at him. They were all agog. Now in their newsletters I don’t read anything about him at all, if I remember correctly, from the past few years.
St John Chyrsostom, in his commentary on Galatians 1:8, says this, "...in the discussion of truth the dignity of persons is not to be considered. +
Tax the Rich: Pope Francis Calls for Global Wealth Redistribution Tax cuts for the wealthy constitute a “structure of sin,” Pope Francis said Wednesday in a passionate address calling for international wealth redistribution. “Every year hundreds of billions of dollars, which should be paid in taxes to fund health care and education, accumulate in tax haven accounts,” the pontiff told participants in a Vatican seminar, “thus impeding the possibility of the dignified and sustained development of all social agents.” “Today’s structures of sin include repeated tax cuts for the richest people, often justified in the name of investment and development,” Francis told the meeting organized by the Pontifical Academy for Social Sciences. During his discourse, the pope repeated his conviction that poverty is on the rise worldwide and “the poor increase around us.” With the passage of time and the advances of civilization the number of poor people increases rather than diminishing, Francis similarly asserted last June, and “the poor are always poorer, and today they are poorer than ever.” As a Brookings Institution report noted in late 2018, however, the world is currently experiencing “the lowest prevalence of extreme poverty ever recorded in human history — less than 8 percent,” and that number falls with each passing year. According to the widely used “international poverty line,” people are considered to be in “extreme poverty” if they live on less than $1.90 per day or its equivalent. In the world today, less than 10 percent of the global population lives in extreme poverty, whereas just 30 years ago (1990), some 37 percent of the world lived in extreme poverty. Two centuries ago, nearly everyone in the world lived in extreme poverty. While in the year 1800 almost 90 percent of the world’s population subsisted on less than $1 a day, that percentage had been constantly falling, dropping below 20 percent in the year 2000 and below 10 percent in the present day. It is not only “extreme poverty” that is falling, however. The global poverty rate has been falling across every single poverty line, whether the bar is set at $1.90 a day or $10 a day. In his address Wednesday, the pope lamented that the per capita annual income in the world this year will be $12,000 “according to official reports.” According to data from the World Bank, however, annual per capita income worldwide has been increasing dramatically year by year and in 2018 was $17,948. Furthermore, the World Bank reveals, global per capita income has increased by over 200 percent since 1990 and is now more than three times higher than its 1990 level of $5,498. This does not suggest that poverty is not a problem or that poverty reduction is not a worthy and important goal. It does mean, however, that global poverty is not increasing but is decreasing rapidly. In free market economies that favor wealth creation such as the United States, “extreme poverty” has virtually been eradicated. For example, in 2005, 78.3 percent of households living in “poverty” (by U.S. standards) had air conditioning, whereas in 1970, 36.0 percent of all households had air conditioning. “If extreme poverty exists in the midst of wealth (also extreme) it is because we have allowed the gap to widen to become the largest in history,” the pope said. “The world’s 50 richest people have $2.2 trillion worth of assets. These fifty people alone could fund the health care and education of every poor child in the world, whether through taxes, philanthropic initiatives, or both.” It must be acknowledged, however, that no such “gap” exists between the wealthy and the poor, since the vast majority of people live somewhere in the middle. There is not a cluster of ridiculously rich people followed by an immense mass of very poor people. The majority of people are neither very rich nor very poor. https://www.breitbart.com/politics/...ancis-calls-for-global-wealth-redistribution/
Whilst I do agree financial institutions such as banks should have more regulation and be prey to greater scrutiny the lack of intellectual rigour in PF's arguments about poverty and his blanket condemnation of wealth really annoys me. Thank God for the wealthy who have created the wealth legally through the use of their intellect and hard work thus creating many jobs and keeping people off the bread line. I think this Pope is definitely anti-intellectual or anti the use of intellect and reason. He has become the Pope of sound-bites.
She definitely IS in the process of forming her own church. Very astute, DeGaulle. She is clearly divisive. She is what we would call in the schoolyard a “know it all”. And I fear her followers are becoming like her.
What a coincidence. The current pope and Jeffrey Sachs attack Trump and the USA practically at the same time. https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/w...ls-trump-dangerous-to-one-world-big-consensus
Well, at least Mr. Sachs affirms that the USA is the key roadblock to the globalist agenda. I notice that he doesn't mention China or Russia, whose authoritarian governments don't give a hoot about the globalist agenda, except where that agenda suits their own aims. It tells me that the globalists are willing to do anything to take down Trump, and the Vatican plays along. And this speech is taking place at the Vatican! Amazing! My citizenship in heaven outranks that of my U.S. citizenship, but Jeffery's speech makes me realize how quick the slide into a NWO will be if the Dems win the White House in November. A Democrat president come January, 2021, will revamp international policy for my nation before I can blink 5 times. Imagine if they win all three Branches! We must realize the need now going forward is to live the Faith with all the fervor the Holy Spirit provides. It demands a white martyrdom. But the red one is within sight! O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
I've rarely have had such a mixture of anger and grief. Here is Mr. Sachs, a traitor to his native land (rename him Benedict Arnold), and next to him is Cardinal Sorondo, who recently praised the socialism of China! Such spiritual blindness! Sorondo appears to be lapping up every word Sachs utters. Does he not see that once the Vatican serves its devilish purpose, the NWO will turn on him and his ilk and butcher them all? The NWO despises the Catholic Church! Dear Jesus, send a spirit of repentance into the hearts of these two men. Do not let them suffer hell fire. Soften their hearts that they might come to see Your Wondrous Mercy! O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!
For what it's worth I do believe that the Holy Father hates the USA. The only thing , U suspect he hates worse is the Catholic Church.
So now Pope Francis is an economist. We mustn't forget all the experience he has accumulated in that economic powerhouse that is Argentina. Perhaps he should stay closer to home and remind his fellow countrymen that it has always been considered sinful by the Catholic Church to not pay one's debts.
All economic systems are capitalistic. The only differences are in who gets to hold it. The freer the economy, the more people get to have capital. In socialism, the state gets to own the capital, which really means that the small nomenclatura that holds power in the state gets it all. That's why Hugo Chavez' daughter was able to walk away with billions. This is simply theft, whereas Donald Trump seems to have honestly earned his billions-had he made any wrong move, boy would we know.
