 Unfortunately I see alot of adults doing the same. How sad our Lord must feel when parents and other older adults no longer bow or genuflect giving him his rightful due. It tears me up that many of these were brought up respecting both Christ and his church. May he grant us Mercy though as a flock we are so undeserving. :barefoot:

So true MC. One time toward the end of Mass I saw people getting the Sacred Host from Eucharistic Ministers and walking right out the door. I was so horrified and having just received Holy Communion myself I was asking Our Lord what I could do. I received a clear answer. "Make a Holy Hour of reparation." So I did but it seemed a very little to offer Him. At Sunday Mass the old people who should know better talk and laugh and carry on as if in a social gathering. Right up to the priest processing in. That's why I go to the Chapel for Mass. Everyone there is very reverent. I feel very sad for these parishioners. They ha ve forgotten in Whose Presence they are.

Catholic priest moved from Tasmanian church over 'personal and theological differences'

A Catholic priest in Tasmania's north has been removed from his post after what the Archdiocese of Hobart has described as "tension within the parish" and "disturbances".

    Key points:
    • Father Nicholas Rynne had been working across two churches in Tasmania's north
    • The Archdiocese of Hobart says the disturbances relate to "personal and theological differences between parishioners, and between parishioners and Father Rynne"
    • Separately, police are investigating an alleged assault of which it is understood Father Rynne was a victim

In a statement, the Archdiocese said Father Nicholas Rynne would no longer service the Meander Valley Parish, which covers two churches in the towns of Deloraine and Westbury, near Launceston.

He had started working there earlier this year.

The Archdiocese said the "disturbances" referred to "personal and theological differences between parishioners, and between parishioners and Father Rynne".

Father Rynne's departure from the parish came after the church called in a retired Melbourne bishop to conduct a "visitation".

The church said the bishop, Peter Elliot, interviewed 86 people between March 25 and March 29.

"In the light of [Bishop Elliot's] recommendations and following discussion with diocesan consultors and the council of priests, Father Nicholas Rynne has ceased his role as administrator at the Meander Valley Parish, and other associated roles in the Archdiocese," Hobart Archbishop Julian Porteous said.

It is understood a parishioner had sent a letter of complaint to the Archdiocese, which included allegations only men were allowed to serve at the altar, and concerns about mass held in Latin.

The Archdiocese confirmed they had received a number of complaints, along with letters of support for Father Rynne.

Separately, Tasmanian police are investigating an alleged assault at the Redeemer Catholic Church at Deloraine.

Police said a 38-year-old man and a 77-year-old woman were pushed and grabbed by three churchgoers during an altercation on Saturday night.

It is understood Father Rynne was one of the alleged victims.

The ABC contacted Father Rynne for comment.

"The Dean of the North, Father Mark Freeman, has agreed to act as moderator of the Meander Valley Parish for the immediate future," Archbishop Porteous said.

"We pray that a process of healing and restoration of unity may be achieved in the parish and among all affected."

The Archdiocese says masses will continue at both churches

You can tell by the way Fr. Rynne is dressed what the "theological differences" were.
He made the mistake of teaching Catholicism.

Drums? I think I would have to run screaming from the church. Guess I shouldn't complain too much about our music director who is hung up on a blues/gospel . Sunday mornings sound like the House of Blues gospel brunch.

Yes, terribly sad. Sometimes I feel we have a front row seat to a spiritual disaster. The Catholic Catechism that we once memorized, and that shaped our faith as children, has pretty much been cast aside and replaced with an unrecognizable laid back edition. Respect/reverence for sacredness is taught by example, and I fear it is in serious jeopardy.

I think that in Ireland they are trying to repair the Church's image after all the scandals. It's well intentioned but I think they are going to the other extreme. Portraying Jesus as a loving friend isn't bad but they seem to be paying little attention to His divinity. I suppose it is hard for them to find the right balance. Good priests who have given their lives to the Church must be punch drunk. May God give them strength to soldier on in this life and may He reward them abundantly in the next life.

I need to add religious education teachers to my list of prayer intentions.

I used to describe it as the ziegfeld follies especially when the 12 or so Eucharistic Ministers came sweeping down the aisle. For awhile we had a guitar playing woman who sang like a nightclub singer. It was so off putting but I kept telling myself people love God in different ways and try to glorify Him the best way they can just like we all do. St Therese described gritting her teeth in an effort not to be angry at the nun who kept splashing her on laundry day. I loved that story. She overcame her deep dislike of the nun eventually but she described it as a terrible struggle. I feel that way about current church music. Gritting my teeth and trying to overcome.;)
