Thank you Heidi! Thank you, thank you! This was my hope when I asked people to pray the DM chaplet recently. I was hoping someone would be praying it for him just as he passed. You just made my day. Thank you so much. And thanks again to all who prayed for Luke.
In the last day so far we have had 12 recorded earthquakes, some weak, some light, some moderate, none harmful. None near Luke’s hometown. Just a farewell chorus to a favourite son.
Rest in peace Luke. I'm sure that Our Lord looks upon Luke as a holy and faithful servant. He will be in my intentions tonight at Mass.
Luke was an example of perseverance in the faith even in the most difficult times, and how to prepare fervently for the final encounter with Christ. The forum loses a friend but wins a great intercessor. thanks to Joe who kept us informed about the last days of Luke's life.
I came across a lovely scripture passage tonight which reminded me of Mac and gave me comfort: Sirach 44:1-15 Hymn in Honor of Our Ancestors 44 Let us now praise famous men, and our fathers in their generations. 2 The Lord apportioned to thema]">[a] great glory, his majesty from the beginning. 3 There were those who ruled in their kingdoms, and were men renowned for their power, giving counsel by their understanding, and proclaiming prophecies; 4 leaders of the people in their deliberations and in understanding of learning for the people, wise in their words of instruction; 5 those who composed musical tunes, and set forth verses in writing; 6 rich men furnished with resources, living peaceably in their habitations— 7 all these were honored in their generations, and were the glory of their times. 8 There are some of them who have left a name, so that men declare their praise. 9 And there are some who have no memorial, who have perished as though they had not lived; they have become as though they had not been born, and so have their children after them. 10 But these were men of mercy, whose righteous deeds have not been forgotten; 11 their prosperity will remain with their descendants, and their inheritance to their children’s children.b]">[b] 12 Their descendants stand by the covenants; their children also, for their sake. 13 Their posterity will continue for ever, and their glory will not be blotted out. 14 Their bodies were buried in peace, and their name lives to all generations. 15 Peoples will declare their wisdom, and the congregation proclaims their praise.
You know luke (mac) knew that sometimes my posts can be a little whacky but meaningful I know he would appreciate my final farewell rip brother
My baby sister Dot (50 in April) and her husband Jim have climbed these crags and mountains and crossed these glens. At night Dot takes my old mum's hands in hers and prays with her saying the same prayers we were taught as children and adding a few spontaneous and beautiful compositions of her own. It is very moving to witness this work. And mum loves it.
Dear QuD I can see Luke clearly in my minds eye gently and attentively leaning over your song of farewell and quietly smiling in loving approval and appreciation.
There are no coincidences! I used to think that was just a figure of speech until I learned it is actually part of Catholic theology. I am glad it popped into your mind, but I am also glad you took up the prompt and acted. This should be a lesson to us all to act when the Holy Spirit prompts. It is never without cause.
Another one (Incl. Miriam) from this forum is off to heaven to pray for us and worship the Lord. Thanks Mac for all the great posts in the past. Thanks Joe and others for all the updates. RIP Mac.
Rest in peace, Luke, you surely had a holy death and one that we may all strive to have. Thank you, Joe, for your posts and updates.
Just read about Luke's passing into eternity. So happy to hear it was on a first Saturday. It tells me our Lady had his hand into heaven. Rest in peace Luke!
Thank you, Luke, for hanging in there for four months. You brought MOG together in a unique way and gave Joe back to us. May your purging be brief, may you rest in the arms of Mary, may you rejoice in the presence of our Holy God! I will have my son, Benjamin, celebrate Holy Mass on your behalf! Washed in the Blood of the Lamb!
Prayed at first Sat for Luke’s soul and his family and at Children’s Adoration yesterday and will continue.Thank you to Joe also.
Good to hear from you Rory despite the sad times. God bless you. My grand nephew is called Rory - a great wee cub. Named after another departed friend and wonderful character, Rory MacLean from the Isle of Barra. I got the phone call one Sunday morning outside the church in the Hokianga while on a road trip with a visiting niece, Jenny. I asked the priest to remember him at mass. A visiting group from the cook islands overheard this request and joined with the local Maori and turned the mass into a beautiful service for Rory even though they did not know him. I also have an Irish patient with the same name but he spells it Ruaidhrí.
