Yes, there are no coincidences. Pope Francis is carrying on a lively "dialog" with those who wish to destroy the Faith.

    Holy Week

    Holy Thursday

The day of remembrance of the betrayal of Christ by Judas

The day of remembrance of the denial of Christ by Peter

The apparent third denial of what Christ taught reported worldwide

The ceiling of St. Peter’s falling right in front of the Pieta

    Signs?

What Scalfari has reported the Pope to have said has caused great scandal. It must be addressed by the Pope and the Vatican for the good of the flock. Let us all pray the Vatican gives a clear and definitive refutation of what Scalfari reported. Let us hope they affirm that the Pope believes in the existence of Hell and the immortality of all souls. The amount of scandal worldwide that this story has caused should equal the amount of response the Vatican should give. The vague answer they gave so far does not set straight the confusion.

31Then Jesus said to them: All you shall be scandalized in me this night. For it is written: I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock shall be dispersed. 32But after I shall be risen again, I will go before you into Galilee. 33And Peter answering, said to him: Although all shall be scandalized in thee, I will never be scandalized. 34Jesus said to him: Amen I say to thee, that in this night before the cock crow, thou wilt deny me thrice. 35Peter saith to him: Yea, though I should die with thee, I will not deny thee. And in like manner said all the disciples.

Yes and right on time to sow doubt in people's minds at Easter - the holiest time in the Church calendar. Note that fellow journalists are condemning him for being a journalist all the time even when he is talking to the Pope. If only Pope Francis would remember that he is Pope all the time even when holding private meetings with his atheist journalist friends.

Scalfari never claims to use direct quotes. Everyone knows that by now. The Pope knows it and everyone in the Vatican Communications Department knows it. What the Vatican's denial boils down to is "Pope Francis didn't say that in the words used by Scalfari". It doesn't deny that the Pope expressed the beliefs attributed to him by Scalfari.

Tomorrow, Easter Sunday, the Pope will give an Urbi et Orbi address (to the City and to the World) from the Vatican, broadcast live on TV and radio. Pope Francis will have an opportunity to state clearly what he believes about Satan, Heaven, Hell, the immortality of human souls, eternal salvation and eternal damnation. He can avail of this opportunity to avoid fake news reporters or what his supporters call "Francis haters" by using clear, unambiguous language to strengthen his brethren in the one, true Faith. Will he do so? I very much doubt it and expect instead to get a speech I could hear at any socialist party gathering with the odd mention of Jesus for the sake of appearances. I hope and pray that he proves me wrong. We'll find out soon enough.

People are trotting out the same old "Jesus ate with sinners" excuse to deflect from the fact that Pope Francis is using an atheist journalist to undermine the Catholic faith. When they use that excuse to juxtapose Jesus with Pope Francis they conveniently forget that Jesus didn't say to Satan "let's have a conversation" or "let me accompany you along your journey". Jesus said "Get thee behind me Satan"; "Begone, Satan: for it is written, The Lord thy God shalt thou adore, and him only shalt thou serve"; and "Shake the dust from your feet". Jesus talked about leaving the faithful sheep and going after the one lost sheep. He mentioned nothing about helping or using that lost sheep to disorientate the rest of the flock. Rather, he warned against it when he said it would be better for such a person to be thrown into the sea with a millstone hung around his neck.

Tomorrow on the central loggia of St. Peter's Basilica is the time and place for Pope Francis to set the record straight and show that he is a worthy occupant of the See of St. Peter. The first Peter turned around and strengthened his brethren. He suffered crucifixion rather than hide or modify God's Truth. Is it too much to hope that Pope Francis would risk not being Time Magazine's Person of the Year by simply affirming the faith on the day we Catholics celebrate the Resurrection?

All priests are supposed to avoid not only actual scandal, but the appearance of scandal.

Scalfari has scandalized the faithful on more than one occasion by claiming that the Pope says very un-Catholic things. In fact Scalfari claims that the Pope rejects some of the most basic tenets of the faith. Could there be any greater scandal?

To continue to talking with this man, much less have the Church print some of his writings makes no sense at all to the average Catholic.

The only reasons for not correcting this properly that I can deduce using logic are:

    A. The Pope actually believes what Scalfari claims and the Vatican doesn't want to come straight out and lie, so they gave an answer which obfuscates the truth.

    B. The Pope doesn't believe what Scalfari claims, but the Vatican is staffed with fools, incompetents, or people so naive that they do not understand how to properly write a clarification. (These are all men with advanced degrees mind you.)

    C. The Pope doesn't believe what Scalfari claims he said, but they don't want to hurt Scalfari's feelings by saying he is wrong and a personal friendship with Scalfari is more important than the confusion of billions of Catholics and even Protestants as to what the Pope and the Catholic Church believe.

    D. The Vatican deliberately wants to create confusion and ambiguity as to what the Pope really believes for some reason.

Honestly, are any of these good answers?

(n)o_O:( Horrible to even have to sort through possible motives. Inconceivable that an absolutely heretical quote from PF is not soundly and thoroughly and unambiguously denied and true doctrine declared for ALL to hear. C'mon Pope Francis. Do the right thing!

I don't think we need to worry about what Pope Francis says to an atheist. He is not speaking TO the Church, and he is already famous for telling people what they want to hear....to their face.

We know atheists believe they are exterminated at the point of death..... meaning no afterlife.

What I found amusing about a debate with an atheist and a Christian. The atheist claimed Christians only fell for the belief there is an afterlife because the Christians were afraid of the dark. To which the Christian replied, well based on that reasoning it is logical to conclude that atheists are in denial of an afterlife because atheists are afraid of the light...:) And I say 'Rock on Tommy,' to that one...:D:p:ROFLMAO::whistle:

It is hard not to think of all the Catholic prophecies describing a time much like this. I think especially of Our Lady of Good Success. And therefore there is the promise that when all seems lost all will be restored. Right now the slope seems slippery indeed. And momentum downward is dizzying. (diabolical disorientation)

Cheer up folks. Christ is risen, He is truly risen. Alleluia. And He will bring good from this shambolic papacy. I offered my Easter Vigil Mass for the Pope to say something, anything, clarifying Church teaching. On my way to Mass my intention was to ask for him to do so in tomorrow's Urbi et Orbi message but I thought better of giving God a timeline, so left the timing to Jesus.

Meanwhile, a little light relief. Eccles blogged about his "interview" with the Pope: http://ecclesandbosco.blogspot.ie/2018/03/pope-francis-admits-that-hell-exists.html . Happy Easter and go easy on the chocolate.

Pope Francis admits that Hell exists

We have been lucky enough to be granted an interview with Pope Francis (yes, thatPope Francis). In fact we never actually met him, or spoke to him, but this is not considered necessary these days, and we have decided to make the whole thing up. Take it away, Francis!
"Yes, I know I allowed Scalfari to interview me - a 93-year-old lunatic who switches off his hearing aid when he interviews, doesn't take notes, and makes up his own account of what happened. And I know I've been fooled by him 489 times before. But we were told to forgive people 70 times 7 times, and this is the last," explained the Holy Father.

"And yes, Eccles, I do believe in Hell. Look, can you imagine something nastier than this?"

Being tormented by an evil spirit in the guise of a fat clown with a stupid magazine to sell.

"Unless it's this. Can you imagine being eternally haunted by a little imp who wants you to read his boring book?"

"In the words of Pope Benedict: 'This is the most fantastic book that I have no intention of reading.'"

Francis gulped, and made one final comment. "Actually, joking aside, I have had a strange vision of Hell, in which Jesuit priests writhe in torment while trying unsuccessfully to build bridges with Satan. It can't happen, can it?"

    What Hell is really like.

Yes, I think it was on Holy Thursday. The entire ceiling of the basilica didn't fall in, but portions of it in front of the Pieta did. They had to close it off for repairs.

No mention of Hell in today's Urbi et Orbi message. British news is highlighting the Pope's criticism of Israelis shooting Palestinians although the Pope didn't specifically mention that incident. Sky News had some Catholic spokeswoman in the studio. She was asked about the Pope not being universally popular within the Church and the no Hell controversy was raised. According to her, any reticence about Pope Francis is confined to the old guard in Rome and stuck in the mud Catholic traditionalists who know people they would like to see in Hell. She went on to say something about it being understandable that people would like to think that Hitler, for example, would be in Hell.

So there you go: any Catholic in England who might be upset about the Pope denying the existence of Hell hates someone enough to want to see them in Hell. The interviewer did mention the Vatican saying that the Pope was misquoted.

Looks like we Catholics are in for a discussion on Hell and the annihilation of souls. Expect to see Catholics on social media start questioning whether the annihilation of souls isn't compatible with Catholicism and whether Hell will be defunct after the General Judgement. Having belief in no Hell and the annihilation of souls included as an option for Catholics might require rewriting the Bible, but that shouldn't be a problem for members of the hierarchy who cast doubt on the Gospel because the Apostles didn't have tape recorders.

We've already got the main argument from those who would seek a change............only a hater would believe in eternal punishment.

Ouch. Right on the money! But as Padre Pio said "he'll believe in Hell when he gets there." To me it seems a no brainer. Something too good to be true is--too good to be true. Why wager your soul on a cooked up get outa jail free card. The risk!!!! And for those promoting this notion this smells of sulphur to me. Hell? Oh no my children. Relax there is no such thing. Rest easy. Have fun. Why did Jesus die on the Cross you ask? Well to liberate the oppressed masses of course. To equalize the wealth. Not to "save" you from some old myth of a boogie man! Get real. This is the modern world. (Chortling)
Yep I can hear Satan whispering these words. That it is coming (allegedly)through the Vatican is a call to sackcloth and ashes and prayer and fasting. Lent is only beginning. I have a feeling we are in permanent Lent.

“On the other hand, that idea about hell for a long time has been a notorious feature in the pastoral theology. Card. Martini - who is considered the great forerunner of this pontificate - in his last months, as a pensioner, wrote something like this in his book-testament:

"I have the hope that sooner or later everyone will be redeemed. I am a great optimist ... My hope that God welcomes us all, that he is merciful, has become ever stronger ... On the other hand, it is natural, I can not imagine how Hitler or a murderer who has abused children can be close to God. It's easier for me to think that such people are simply being annihilated. "

    ...

    “THE REVOLT

“It seems that this time - in front of a quotation that directly attributes to Pope Bergoglio two explicit heresies , in contrast with two fundamental dogmas of the Church - an important cardinal (not Italian) is indignant, has called some colleagues and then, even on their behalf , has directly suggested to Bergoglio what that interview could mean (professing heretical theses is one of the four causes of cessation of the Petrine ministry) .

“Bergoglio consulted with the Deputy Msgr. Becciu and decided to immediately run for cover with that statement of his spokesman, whose prior notice was given to Scalfari who - until today - has been at the game .

“This would explain why "Republic" did not disclose the "denial" and did not respond. But will the story end here?”
