For a long time I have felt that the WCWTS and the 100th Anniversary of the Miracle of the Sun would both be significant, but mostly in spiritual ways that we would not come to understand for some time. The day of the WCWTS surprised me when the filial correction was made public, which was a very visible sign of deep division in the Church. Whatever its meaning, it was truly a sign. Now we are three days away from the centenary, and I must say I am much more nervous about an actual, physical event occurring instead of something unseen and spiritual. All of a sudden we have wildfires and earthquakes around California, earthquakes at the Canary Islands, potentially the stage setting for an earthquake on the New Madrid Fault, and nuclear tension at a high with North Korea. I am honestly questioning whether Friday will pass just like so many other dates, or if that day will significantly change history. Too many things are lining up. Thankfully, I have the opportunity to go to Confession tomorrow.

I just received an email from a close friend in Atherton, CA. They can smell smoke from where they are, but they are safe now. Fires started in the middle of the night, no cause yet, 50 mph plus winds, shelters overflowing with homeless people, several wineries destroyed, hundreds of thousands of acres gone, schools closed, roads closed, no power, some hospitals closed. No containment figures given yet. VERY grim.
