The Russian errors have become far more virulent in the West. The Russians had to use fatal force and the threat of it combined with incarceration in the Gulags. In the West, many, perhaps the majority (including in the Catholic Church) enthusiastically embrace the errors. The attractions of narcissistic autonomy and sexual free-for-all have proven to be far more effective than brute intimidation. Ultimately, they will prove to be far more fatal.
Preaching to the choir is all Carol. It's accurate but there are lots of us who have been saying this same thing about these movements for almost two decades. On the flip side, the alternative right is certainly no better once one digs into their background and what they represent underneath their veneer. Remember, it took less than 1% of the population of Russia to overthrow their rulers and move the entire country to Bolshevism.
Catalan referendum, explained: What's behind the push to break from Spain? http://edition.cnn.com/2017/09/27/europe/catalan-referendum-explained/index.html is it possible that there is a risk of civil war in Spain with this referendum, and in the US with the separatist movement in California?
I do not know about Spain, but there is no real danger of California breaking away short of a nuclear war or something of that magnitude happening.
Don, I am honestly naïve about some of these groups and their titles, some. You are correct that there are extremes on both sides, that much I absolutely understood for a long time. That short video further explains that point in relation to these protests that we are witnessing in the USA currently. I also agree that some civil breakdowns and/or major changes of the past have occurred some times due to a very small percentage of people. Scary. In addition, I really did not know that much about Milo Yiannopoulos until a little while ago, I knew that he was a conservative speaker who, I heard, was popular with younger aged conservatives and that he was supposed to speak at Berkeley in the Spring and the riots resulted instead. I think I knew that he had a connection with Breibart, I didn't realize that he is a Senior Editor there. I just finished watching a speech of his that is contained in the following link, there is also some foul language in it but I found it interesting (and btw, he is dressed in drag although he is not a drag queen). I can see why the left does not want him speaking because he does not fit the narrative of a typical conservative, if there is such a thing. I would suggest that if you do choose to watch his speech which is contained in the longer video you can advance to when he begins speaking but you should watch the whole thing or you will not come away with the correct impression of him, IMHO. http://www.breitbart.com/milo/2016/09/21/dangerous-faggot-milo-sings-american-anthem-full-drag/ . On another topic, the following story is from today 9/27/17: As Venezuela starves, Maduro tells army to prepare for US 'threats' , http://www.foxnews.com/world/2017/0...uro-tells-army-to-prepare-for-us-threats.html and dare I mention the NFL issues, Watch – ESPN Star Scott Van Pelt to Fans Booing the Cowboys: ‘What Are You Angry About?’ 9/26/17 http://www.breitbart.com/big-govern...fans-booing-cowboys-what-are-you-angry-about/ Perhaps Van Pelt should review the results of a Remington Research Group survey finding that 69 percent of people watching less football attributed “players using the NFL as a stage for their political views” as a primary reason they are switching off the game. I suppose it may sound hypocritical of me because I am for free speech in the USA which of course is included in our 1st amendment along with the right to peaceably assemble but I am with the President on what has been occurring in the NFL, you can do a quick search if you have not heard his comments. Although, I wish that the President hadn't use some of the language that he used (ie. son of a b....). I believe that when the players and coaches walk on the field they are at work, let them protest on their own time. That's just me exercising my 1st amendment rights. I love what AG Jeff Sessions said about it, Luan, I don't think anyone knows for certain what is going to happen except for God but things are definitely "bonkers", for lack of a better term, in a lot of places around the world. I guess anything is possible but I would like to believe that those things will not happen. Padraig has been smart to suggest fasting if we can and lots of prayer. May God bless everyone. PS - Please be certain to read through the survey that was used in the above Breibart article on the NFL, http://remingtonresearchgroup.com/surveys/NFL_9-25-17.pdf . I found in very interesting. PPS- This is an article about how Free Speech Week at Berkeley was cancelled for this week, http://www.refinery29.com/2017/09/173515/berkeley-free-speech-week-canceled
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...ne-as-ammunition-depot-explodes-idUSKCN1C20F1 September 27, 2017 Thousands evacuated in Ukraine as ammunition depot explodes KIEV (Reuters) - Massive explosions and a blaze at a military ammunition depot in central Ukraine forced authorities to evacuate 24,000 people and close airspace over the region, officials said on Wednesday. The blasts occurred late on Tuesday at a military base near Kalynivka in the Vynnytsya region, 270 kilometers (168 miles) west of Kiev, Ukrainian emergencies service said in a statement. One person was injured, it said. Arriving in the region hours later, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said “external factors” were behind the incident. Reporting by Pavel Polityuk; Editing by Simon Cameron-Moore ANOTHER ARTICLE ABOUT THE SAME STORY: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/27/world/europe/ukraine-ammunition-depot-explosion.html Huge Ammunition Depot Catches Fire in Ukraine By IULIIA MENDEL SEPT. 27, 2017 Reuters KIEV, Ukraine — One of the Ukrainian Army’s largest ammunition depots caught fire overnight after what was probably an act of sabotage using a drone, an official said on Wednesday, setting off gigantic explosions and forcing the evacuation of about 30,000 people. Like a lethal fireworks display, rocket artillery and tank shells flew out of the depot in all directions, tracing glowing arcs through the night sky and illustrating — if a drone is indeed to blame — the growing role of the devices in combat. The blasts, in the town of Vinnytsya, about 160 miles southwest of Kiev, posed a serious danger to air traffic, passing trains and nearby communities. The depot holds about 200,000 tons of ammunition, the Ukrainian authorities said, and although it was unclear how much was at risk, the firepower was on clear display. As warehouses blew up, gigantic, apocalyptic fireballs rose high above the site. The fires burned at one of the Ukrainian Army’s largest ammunition depots. Credit Sergey Dolzhenko/European Pressphoto Agency The airspace around the site was closed, and train traffic was diverted. By Wednesday afternoon, two people had been injured. It was not clear how long the depot might burn. Ukraine, which is locked in a conflict with Russian-backed separatists in the eastern part of the country, has been the site of several similar episodes this year, though the fire on Wednesday was the first to occur far from the conflict zone. Flames and explosions affected air and train traffic, and caused damage to the surrounding areas. Credit Gleb Garanich/Reuters Ukraine’s domestic intelligence agency classified the incident as sabotage. A presidential adviser, Yuriy Biriukov, wrote on Facebook that a drone could have been used to touch off the explosions, adding that, “We are at war.” Mr. Biriukov wrote that the fires had so far broken out only at army depots where ammunition was kept in open areas; areas where ammunition was stored in bunkers or hangars, and thus inaccessible to drones, had not been affected. The authorities evacuated approximately 30,000 people from the area. Credit Efrem Lukatsky/Associated Press In March, the authorities evacuated about 20,000 people beyond the range of burning artillery shells after a depot near Kharkiv, in eastern Ukraine, caught fire. The fire burned for several days and eventually ignited about half of the stored ammunition at the site. When people returned to the evacuation zone, they found pieces of a missile near a gas station and schools with broken windows. The Ukrainian authorities attributed the fire to a drone having dropped an incendiary device. A second, smaller depot went up in flames this month in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, not far from the front line of the conflict with Russian separatists. That fire was classified as arson, but it was unclear whether it was set off using a drone. The explosions prompted the authorities to close the airspace around the site. Yes, I am very familiar with Milo, I have watched many of his debates and speaking events. He is a very intelligent man. That said, apart from his crudeness he really lost me when he opened up about his sexuality. He attributes it to the Priesthood and speaks softly concerning men having sex with "young boys" and says that there is nothing wrong with this. Like any good political manipulator he tapped in to many peoples anger with the so called conservative movement in the US because of eight years of a far leftist socialist government which the GOP, Neocons and the fake conservative movement in our very government did nothing about. In fact, they fought harder to keep Trump from the GOP nomination than they ever did against ANY of Obama or his ilks designs. None stood up against the gay marriage movement, hardly any stood against the massive push for funding of abortion and inclusion of it in our health insurance. None held the administration accountable for using branches of the government against its own citizens in retribution and persecution, and now they fight tooth and nail against the policies of a validly elected President. Milo is the tip of the iceberg when it comes to these movements. He spoke for quite some time before he began opening up about his personal beliefs and used the angst of many in this nation to propel himself into the limelight. Like any good sycophant his real agenda becomes more clear as time goes on. He is among many on the so called right using the nations anger as a lever. It is precisely how nations fall and psychopaths come to power in fact as we all well know.
http://www.latimes.com/sns-how-the-...en-can-be-prevented-80358-20170926-story.html Almost 620,000 gay and bisexual men in the United States were living with HIV in 2014, and 100,000 of these men were not even aware of their infection. These men are 100 times more likely to have anal cancer than HIV-negative men who exclusively have sex with women. Yet, no national screening guidelines exist for anal cancer prevention in any population. Anal cancer is predominantly caused by chronic or persistent human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. HPV infection can lead to the development of anal precancer which, if remains undetected or not adequately treated, may lead to anal cancer. Likewise, HPV infection is also responsible for causing cervical, vaginal, vulvar, oropharyngeal, penile and rectal cancers. The objective of screening is to identify and treat these precancers to prevent occurrence of anal cancer. However, one of the reasons for the lack of screening guidelines is that anal precancer treatment has not yet been shown to prevent invasive cancer. Our study, published today in the journal Cancer, attempts to find a possible solution to prevent anal cancer in HIV-positive gay and bisexual men, using the best available data. We found that age-specific anal precancer management, including post-treatment HPV vaccination, can potentially lead to an 80 percent decrease in lifetime risk of anal cancer and anal cancer mortality among gay and bisexual men. Anal cancer: the next big crisis Some in the medical community have identified anal cancer as the next big crisis among HIV-infected gay and bisexual men. Initiation of anti-retroviral therapy in the 1990s greatly reduced the AIDS-related death rate and improved survival. However, this improvement in survival led to an increase in the lifetime risk of developing anal cancer, especially among HIV-positive gay and bisexual men. Anal cancer is typically preceded by persistent HPV infection that often leads to precancer. HPV is common among U.S. men; about one out of two men in the general population has HPV infection. HPV typically clears naturally; however, under certain circumstances, it might persist longer and might progress to anal precancer. If it remains undetected, untreated or inadequately treated, this precancer can progress to anal cancer. The American Cancer Society estimates there will be 8,200 new anal cancer cases in 2017. In the absence of national screening recommendations, more than 50 percent of these individuals will be diagnosed at stage III or IV, when five-year survival is less than 40 percent. This creates a major public health concern. We do not yet know how best to manage anal precancer (also known as high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions) so that anal cancer could be prevented. A national randomized clinical trial study – Anal Cancer HSIL Outcomes Research (ANCHOR) – is currently determining optimal anal precancer management by comparing treatment and active monitoring. The question then arises: How do we start managing our patients using the best available evidence? Likewise, it is imperative that these individuals have as much information as possible about anal cancer prevention. How our study brings insight Using a mathematical model, we simulated the life course of 100,000 hypothetical HIV-positive men who have sex with men (MSM) who were 27 years or older and were diagnosed with high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesions. In our model, we compared four different management strategies: (1) individuals were not provided any form of treatment, which is the current practice; (2) individuals were actively monitored (followed biannually) and those who developed early cancer were treated; (3) individuals were immediately treated using surgery (current most popular strategy among clinicians who treat precancer); and (4) individuals in addition to surgical treatment received HPV vaccination (potential strategy). We followed these hypothetical patients over their lifetime in our computer model to estimate harms and benefits of the management strategies. We tracked the number of individuals who developed anal cancer and then estimated their risk of death from anal cancer. We then estimated above outcomes by patient age. For each strategy, we estimated age-specific lifetime outcomes considering cost, quality of life and life expectancy. We found that HIV-infected gay and bisexual men who are 38 years or older should be treated using surgical treatment of ablation (either infrared coagulation or electrocautery), and that HPV vaccination should be administered at the time of surgery. This strategy is cost-effective and has the potential to decrease the lifetime risk of anal cancer by up to 80 percent in those men. The model also found that because younger men are more likely to be cured of their precancer without intervention, patients younger than 29 should not be treated and those between 29 and 38 years old should be actively monitored (watch-and-wait approach) in order to prevent treatment-related inconvenience and morbidity that might affect their quality of life.
As I said, I don't know very much about Milo Yiannopoulos, I wanted to find out a little more because of the "anitfa" video that I posted. What I heard him say in the other speech appeared to be honest and he wasn't promoting his life-style, in fact, he was stating the opposite. If I could suggest a role model to the younger people my choice would be someone like Jeff Sessions or maybe Tim Tebow. I don't know all of their "histories" but what I have seen appears pretty good but no one would listen to me anyway. lol. ________________________________________________________________ http://www.foxnews.com/world/2017/0...-kabul-airport-just-after-mattis-arrival.html Rockets, grenades fired at Kabul airport after Mattis arrival September 27, 2017 The Taliban unleashed a barrage of rockets and suicide bombers detonated their vests at Kabul's international airport Wednesday, the attack coming fewer than two hours after U.S. Defense Secretary James Mattis arrived there. Mattis had already left the airport aboard helicopters to attend a meeting with Afghanistan’s President Ghani when the attack occurred. The Afghan Crisis Response Unit responded to the attack and U.S. forces supported them in the air, but a missile malfunctioned and caused "several" friendly casualties, officials said. Afghan special forces managed to repel the attackers, killing four in the ensuing gunbattle. Officials said an investigation into the attack has been opened and more details would be released in the coming days. Mattis arrived in Kabul just after 11 p.m. ET -- 7:30 a.m. in Kabul --after spending Tuesday in India. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg was also on the flight. Mattis spoke about the attack at a news conference in Kabul, alongside Afghanistan's president. “If in fact there was an attack on an international airport anywhere in the world, if it's an attack by a terrorist it's designed to go after innocent people," Mattis said. "And this is a classic definition of what the Taliban is up to now." "We will suffocate any hope that Al Qaeda or ISIS or the Taliban have of winning by killing. I want to reinforce to the Taliban that the only path to peace and political legitimacy to them is through a negotiated settlement," Mattis added. This is Mattis' first trip to Afghanistan since President Donald Trump announced a new strategy for Afghanistan, recommitting to the country and declaring during a prime-time address back in August that U.S. troops must “fight to win.” The new strategy for the 16-year-old war includes sending roughly 3,500 more U.S. troops to Afghanistan to join the 11,000 on the ground. Sixteen years after the 9/11 attacks, Kabul is still being attacked by the Taliban. On Tuesday in Washington, Gen. Joe Dunford, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said it's time to demand that Pakistan stop giving sanctuary to the Taliban. Already the U.S. military is stepping up its air strikes in Afghanistan. In August, more bombs were dropped on the Taliban and an ISIS-affiliated group than any month since 2012. The director of the Kabul airport said all flights have been halted as result of the mortar attack at the airport. Fox News' Lucas Tomlinson and the Associated Press contributed to this report.
did you listen to an interview where he says that the Antichrist is alive and can not die, only Christ can kill him?
Yes, this is the way these groups operate. It appeals to a large group of people to hear others with a platform pointing out things we have been upset about. Then over time they begin to gain popularity and even power. I ignored his sexuality for a while because of it until I realized that he is not what he proclaims. No matter how many platitudes he mutters. I honestly could not endorse a role model to young men of today. I would simply advise them to stay close to the sacred scripture, tradition and teachings of the magesterium and be very leery of worldly things at least to the best of their ability.
Couldn't agree with you more, Don. This piece from Randall Smith in The Catholic Thing is worth reading. https://www.thecatholicthing.org/ The final paragraph is very insightful but also very chilling when you think what all this unrest could lead to: A society not schooled in the logic and complexities of making well-supported moral judgments will soon be incapable of making any judgments – or any good ones. Instead of reasoned argument and discussion, you get screaming mobs and broken glass. Unfortunately, journalists suffer from the same moral relativism and jump on the bandwagon of one side or the other rather than seeing and reporting the bigger picture. It's hard to know whether they are simply blind to the dangers or are fully aware and are deliberately watering the shoots of totalitarianism. Politicians please their financial backers while making sure not to cross the press; their constituents tend to be last on the list of priorities. This won't end well.
Things are getting genuinely scary out there - it makes me wonder almost every day, "What fresh horror will today bring?" I was rummaging through the "Catholic" file on my computer and ran across this prayer for priests. I don't even remember where it came from but it's such a wonderful prayer I thought I'd post it, if I may. Here it is: O Almighty and Eternal God, look upon the Face of Thy Christ, and for love of Him Who is the eternal High Priest, have pity on Thy priests. Remember, O most compassionate God, that they are but weak and frail human beings. Stir up in them the grace of their vocation which is in them by the imposition of the Bishop's hands. Keep them close to Thee, lest the enemy prevail against them, so that they may never do anything in the slightest degree unworthy of their sublime vocation. O Jesus, I pray to Thee for Thy faithful and fervent priests; for Thy unfaithful and tepid priests; for Thy priests laboring at home or abroad in distant mission fields; for Thy tempted priests; for Thy lonely and desolate priests; for Thy young priests; for Thy aged priests; for Thy sick priests; for Thy dying priests; for the souls of Thy priests in Purgatory. But above all I commend to Thee the priests dearest to me: the priest who baptized me; the priests at whose Masses I assisted and who gave me Thy Body and Blood in Holy Communion; the priests who taught and instructed or helped me and encouraged me; all the priests to whom I am indebted in any other way, particularly (your priest’s name here). O Jesus, keep them all close to Thy heart, and bless them abundantly in time and in eternity. Mary, Queen of the clergy, pray for us; obtain for us many and holy priests. Amen.
Great article. I have reasoned for years now that the media and politicians are very much well and fully aware of the totalitarianism they are watering with few exceptions. After all, they without a doubt support the ideal of a new one world government and to get there they will have to utterly destroy all sound reason and education from the minds of the majority to arrive at that magical point where the country and world is ripe for the picking. We are very close now. There is no third rail alternative to the classes we see dominating the headlines today. It is either ANTIFA via the SEIU and Soros or Nationalists who all are anything but what they say they are. I keep asking myself. Where are the voices of reason? Why does it seem that they are deliberately sitting out of these frays? In the US I would not be surprised to see my nation simply melt away into this state and not erupt in the civil war that so many think is on the horizon. We are a country which has been given so much and yet we are seemingly possessed by a spirit of self centered materialism and self aggrandizement when we (I mean ME) ought to be focused on being the bread basket and hope of the world. I came to realize when I began praying and attending mass regularly as well as reading Catholic books written before about 1950 that there was something deeply wrong with my thinking and the formation of my mind in my early years. This is purely my experience but I know that I am not alone in considering that the formation and tilling of the mind of men and women truly shapes what they will become. We are witnessing this first hand today.
I think we must be very careful with right-wing movements. They can seem very attractive to us because they oppose the left. However, many if not most of them are of a right-liberal disposition, which is only liberalism in a slower gear but with the same ultimate objectives. They may not be hostile to religion at the moment but they certainly will be eventually when it comes to represent an obstacle to their destination of a war of all against all. Words are always important. Never more so than now. How do we define ourselves politically? If we consider ourselves broadly as 'right-wingers', for immediate tactical reasons, we will become gravely disillusioned. Nor is it enough to define ourselves as merely Catholics anymore as we can see some of the evil that has come in under that umbrella in recent times. 'Catholic Reactionary' is the term I prefer at the moment. The word 'reactionary' is so unfashionable that no group seems to have co-opted it and twisted its meaning yet. 'Conservative' is inadequate because if the liberal wing of the Church retain power long enough and consolidate it sufficiently they will become the conservatives, much as Breshnev and Andropov were conservative leaders of the USSR towards its end. [With respect to your question about the voices of reason; they are small in number, disempowered, voiceless, isolated and (to paraphrase Stalin) possess fewer divisions than ever. Don't despair. Reason has long won the War. What is up for decision is the casualty list. We must pray that our Heavenly Commander-in-Chief is busily threading camels through needles' eyes].
