Here's a sign. Sunni and Shiite Islam playing house. Who would have thought?

    https://www.scribd.com/article/356592386/Iranian-Military-Chief-Meets-Turkish-President

The Iranian army chief today held talks with Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and military leaders in Ankara over defence issues, counter-terrorism and the Syrian conflict.

In what is the first visit to Turkey by an Iranian chief of staff since Iran’s 1979 revolution, Major General Mohammad Baqeri met his Turkish counterpart, General Hulusi Akar, as well as the Defence Minister Fikri Isik and Erdogan.

The officials also discussed education and defence ties, with both countries having agreed to the sharing of information, student exchanges and holding joint military training exercises.

The two sides also discussed the Kurdish referendum for independence due to be held in September in northern Iraq, with both vehemently opposing it and agreeing that it will only increase tensions.

Iran’s official news agency, IRNA, described the visit as unprecedented in the history of Iranian-Turkish relations.

There have been no such visits between the two countries for a long time, but considering regional developments and security issues – border security and the fight against terrorism – there was a need for such a visit

Baqeri told Iranian state television upon his arrival in Turkey on Tuesday.

In recent months, Turkey’s relations with its traditional allies – the US and EU countries – have been strained after the US equipped and armed Kurds in Syria and America, Germany and other European countries’ refusal to extradite suspects in the coup attempt which took place in July 2016.

Despite Turkey backing the opposition fighters in Syria, and Iran supporting regime President Bashar Al-Assad, the two have been able to agree to the establishment of four de-escalation zones, or safe zones, in Syria to quell the conflict in the country, and discussions are currently underway regarding the policing of the zones.

According to Baqeri, Erdogan will head a senior delegation in a visit to Iran in the near future with the goal of further improving bilateral economic, political and military ties

  3. This is a "sign" mainly of today's current reason free idiocy:

Alt-Left Tags Iconic NOLA Statue with “Tear It Down!”…Of French Military Leader Joan of Arc

The golden equestrian statue of St. Joan of Arc, the Maid of Orleans, stands on Decatur Street in New Orleans’ historic French Quarter. A gift from France in 1972 to honor the city’s French heritage, the statue is the focus of an annual community parade organized by a group devoted to the 15th-century saint and military heroine.

Joan, of course, has no connection to the Confederacy or to American history. But that didn’t stop someone from spray-painting “Tear it down!” on the statue earlier this year, according to Nola.com. The graffiti has since been removed, though stains remain, but the incident raises questions.

Did someone mistake a woman in medieval armor for a Southern general? If so, it wasn’t anyone associated with New Orleans’ active Tear ‘Em Down (TED) movement, which advocates for removing monuments to the Confederacy from public places.

“Joan of Arc is not on our radar,” assured Malcolm Suber, a leader of the New Orleans TED group.

I see it more as a sign of where we are headed if either the left or the right have their ways.

  5. It is being reported in some places that the fire related to the bomb making house related to Barcelona attacks that the terrorists had planned to blow up the famous Sagrada Familia Basilica.

Police are trying to piece together how a cell composed of multiple sets of brothers from the same sleepy Pyreenes town came to carry out the devastating attacks, amid reports they planned to blow up the Sagrada Familia.

THE jihadi cell responsible for carrying out the Barcelona attack wanted to target the city’s famous Sagrada Familia basilica but their hub house exploded before they could.

Police believe the terrorists were planning to cause absolute carnage on the Catalonian capital by driving lorries packed with explosives into the city’s three busiest tourists areas.

The main target was to be Sagrada Familia, the UNESCO world heritage basilica which remains unfinished despite construction starting in 1882 by Antoni Gaudi.[IMG]

Rorate Caeli is reporting some "unbelievable Vatican news" but says she is not authorised to publish just yet. With ++ Parolin visiting Russia tomorrow and the Garabandal prophesy about the Pope visiting Russia, I wonder if it is to do with this. Wouldn't it be extraordinary if Pope Francis were to consecrate Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary ?

Or could it be a response from Pope Francis to the Dubia ?

TRIBES HOPE FOR RENEWAL IN SOLAR ECLIPSE; NOT ALL WILL WATCH

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) -- While much of the country gawks at the solar eclipse, Bobbieann Baldwin will be inside with her children, shades drawn.

In Navajo culture, the passing of the moon over the sun is an intimate moment in which the sun is reborn and tribal members take time out for themselves. No talking. No eating or drinking. No lying down. No fussing.

"It's a time of renewal," said Baldwin, a Navajo woman from Fort Defiance, Arizona. "Kind of like pressing the alt, control, delete button on your computer, resetting everything."

......The Crow's cultural director, William Big Day, said the sun is believed to die and come back to life during an eclipse. In more nomadic days, Crows would offer each other "good wishes" for their travels, and elders would advise them to do a cleansing ceremony to start anew, he said.
    ............
When the sun and the moon disappeared during eclipses in the past, it frightened indigenous people who believed they displeased the gods, said Stanford "Butch" Devinney, an Eastern Shoshone spiritual leader and teacher at Wyoming Indian Schools on the Wind River Reservation. The way he sees it now, the eclipse is an opportunity for renewal.

"Maybe our way of thinking might change, our behavior," he said. "People will have a different outlook on life. Maybe it will change for the better. Be a different person."

In answer to a tweet asking whether it's good or bad news, they say that it's good and bad. Are the people at Rorate believers in the Medjugorje apparitions?
