Those receiving Our Lord unworthily are the ones who have chosen poorly...they eat and drink judgement ...
One need not worry when one is simply defending and protecting Christ's Real Presence in the Holy Eucharist from sacrilegious communion, and the teaching they defend is upheld by Scripture and 2000 years of unanimous Church teaching. It's those who propose this new and novel discipline regarding the Eucharist that are failing to choose wisely. And leading souls to perdition.
It is not hard to see why Satan has chosen the Eucharist as his greatest quest to destroy. He wishes at this time to make it available to as many people in grave sin as he can, to begin his moment of the abomination of desolation, which the antichrist will see it come to fruition. He is now using bad priests to welcome sinners with no restrictions to 'take and eat' without understanding they are doing so to their condemnation. Satan knows that receiving Eucharist in the state of grace is the most beneficial grace to our soul. He also knows, it adds condemnation to one who receives unworthily. 10/22/07 message from the book www.godspeakswillyoulisten.org "My people, you have the seal of the living God on your soul, purchased with my precious blood which you received at baptism and confirmation. Use this gift wisely. It will once again be the blood of a lamb, which will protect my people from the plagues of Egypt. I am that Lamb who shed my blood for the remission of all your sins. My name is Jesus Christ. Do not be confused by false teachers and false prophets. For I the Lord, prophesy to you: it is only by my precious blood you will inherit eternal life and have protection from the forces of evil in your world. If you do not have sanctifying grace in your soul, you will not be protected from Satan and the deception of the man of Sin. Without my precious blood, no sacramental will offer you any protection. I repeat myself again, trust in Jesus Christ alone. Surrender yourself to Jesus Christ alone or you will be swept away by the trials ahead.
Peter was also defending Christ's Real Presence, and yet the very One he was defending rebuked him and told to put down the sword; for the gracelessness of Peter's confused and belligerent reaction to the Divinely Ordained circumstances caused him to shortly thereafter give Our Lord a far greater wound than all of the Jews and Roman Soldiers combined. In these hard times, let us be imitators of Mary, not imitators of Peter. Otherwise, do not think that you will have the strength stand in what is coming.
Peter was defending his friend his Lord his God. His understanding was still fragile. This is a poor example . Are you against the 'Dubia' Daniel?
The four Cardinals aren't recommending taking up arms against the Pope. They are asking for clarification. Didn't Our Lady ask the angel for clarification at the Annunciation?
Guess you'll have to give up Medjugorje too then...cause the visionaries are for Pope Francis. Any self-pontificating prophet that goes against the Pope who whether you or anyone else thinks they are not validly elected, (Cardinal Burke certainly does! duh) then they have excommunicated themselves. God have mercy on you.
Oh brother...get a grip. Why don't you stamp your feet, yell "there's no place like home" and compare it to the Assumption...ROTFLMAO!!
I was merely responding to a poster who told us that we should try to imitate Mary rather than Peter. "How can this be?" was a request for clarification. Seeking clarification is neither fanciful nor a sign of lack of humility. Sneering, the the other hand, is at the very least a sign of pride and intolerance. Rather than telling you where precisely to stick your ROTFLMAO, I suggest that when you pick yourself up off that floor you might try acting like the mother superior rather than the 7 because whichever of the 7 you are imitating shows signs of being a schoolyard bully.
The four Cardinals have every right and duty to challenge the dubious elements of Amoris Latetia. The manner in which these Cardinals have been slandered and mistreated for defending Christ's words in Sacred Scripture is the most disturbing part of this whole shameful espisode in Church history.
Medjugorje is a hoax at best and a demonic apparition at worse; using it for guidance and to defend Amoris Latetia is predictable. Garabandal, which I still am skeptical of, comes closer to the mark when it predicted Cardinals against Cardinals, Bishops against Bishops.
Battle lines have been drawn. It wasn't Burke's decision to pick this fight. Kasper and Company are responsible for bringing us this sad episode in Church history. It is disheartening that only 4 Cardinals have had the courage to speak up.
The most hypocritcal part of it is that the same people who had for many years ignored Papal authority on this very issue are now demanding that everyone acquiesce blindly to that authority when the only clear outcome of AL is its inconsistency in interpretation and application. So far, it is being used to make a mockery of the Sacraments of Marriage, Reconciliation and Extreme Unction, all of which impinge on what the Church has always taught about the Real Presence in the Blessed Sacrament. And we're all to pretend that this is a Holy Spirit inspired development of Doctrine? Was the Holy Spirit inspiring the same German clerics to ignore this Pope's predecessors' clear teaching on the matter? For all we know (and there are suggestions that it may well have been the case) then Bishop/Cardinal Begoglio was also ignoring the Pope.
I just pray that this sad episode is resolved quickly without causing further scandal to the little ones. If you pray the Rosary daily, I suggest that you include this intention in your prayers. I gave Pope Francis the benefit of the doubt for so long and when he first appeared on the balcony of St. Peter's I was hoepful for him, but the reality has been much different. While Rome diddles and dabbles, the Catholics in Syria have been tortured, murdered, displaced and nearly exterminated from the birthplace of Christianity. I think Rome needs to grow up and get a grip on their priorities and do some serious soul searching.
Yes, prayer is the answer because it looks like it will take direct intervention from Heaven to sort us out this time. This abscess has been gathering since Humane Vitae.
The reality is for 40 or 50 years 80% of Catholics have been ignoring the Popes when it comes down to it by using birth control. We are well down the slippery slope Pope Paul VI warned about. According to those who expect us to be perfect, it would appear sacreligeous communions have been the norm, so who are we to judge. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone, is how Jesus taught us to respond. I believe God is punishing us for being a bunch of hypocrites, with a Pope who is trying to save the souls Jesus died for. Yes we are all sinners. And Moses already had to allow divorce even in his own lifetime after God gave the 10 Commandments in the first place. When Jesus was asked about this He said Moses had to allow divorce because the people were unteachable. Not much has changed in 6000 years when it comes to the 6th Commandment. And to think we imagine we are so much more advanced. Sigh. I am more and more convinced the Illumination/Warning is very close and the Pope knows the date. And I do believe God is powerful and can remove the Pope if He sees fit. Besides no one has asked any of us to break any Commandments. We are free to aim for perfection in Gods eyes. Just my take on it.
I would also suggest that as many people as possible petition the Holy Father for the solemn papal definition of the 5th Marian Dogma of Mary as Co-Redemptrix, Mediatrix and Advocate as requested by Our Lady of All Nations in the Church approved apparition in Amsterdam. I don't expect Pope Francis to do much in this matter given his seeming desire to play nice and not offend the Protestants, but it would not hurt to try and petition anyway. Mark Miravalle has noted that, historically, solemn papal definitions of Marian Dogmas have brought great graces to the Church in the World and have more than once rescued the Church from crisis: "One hundred years ago, on March 25, 1915, the renowned Belgian cardinal and World War I hero, Desire` Cardinal Mercier, began a petition movement in the Catholic Church for the solemn definition of the Blessed Virgin Mary as the “Spiritual Mother” of all humanity. Mercier’s reasons were simple. If the pope were to infallibly define that Mary is the world’s Spiritual Mother, then torrents of grace, to a historic proportion, would rain down upon the Church. Why? Because, historically, every dogmatic definition of a Marian truth has brought down great and extraordinary graces upon the Church and the world. For example, after defining the first Marian dogma that Mary is the “Mother of God,” devotion to Our Lady exploded in both the East and West, with ubiquitous expressions of Marian love manifest in liturgy, theology, art, icons, architecture, liturgy, poetry, and most every other form of western culture. Before the defining of the third Marian dogma, the Immaculate Conception, the Church in general and the pope in particular were in grave crisis. Pius IX had been driven out of the Vatican by invading troops from the south, and the Papal States were overrun. While in exile at Gaeta, Pius IX was requested by several pleading cardinals to define the Immaculate Conception precisely as a remedy for the grave state of the papacy and of the Church. The Marian cardinals argued that if Our Lady’s doctrine was declared as a dogma, she would directly intercede to save both the papacy and the current dismal state of the Church. The saintly pontiff consented. Thus from exile in 1849, Bl. Pius IX wrote to the bishops of the world, informing them of his intention to define the Immaculate Conception as a dogma. After doing so on December 8, 1854, not only did the Church experience a tremendous grace of unity and solidarity under the Chair of Peter, but the returning pontiff soon after declared the dogma of papal infallibility, which further solidified Catholic faith and life under the Holy Father. Yes, Marian dogmas bring grace—great grace—to the Church. The definition of Mary’s Spiritual Motherhood ( it had been argued by Mercier and could still be argued today), would unleash upon the Church even more graces, since this proposed dogma would be to define the very roles in which Mary acts as a “mother to us in the order of grace” (Lumen Gentium, n. 61). Mary’s titles are her functions. As St. John Paul II noted, “She acts as a mediatrix, not as an outsider, but in her position as mother” and “she has the right to do so” (Redemptoris Mater, n. 21). If our Holy Father were to define Mary’s Spiritual Motherhood, it would allow her the fullest possible exercise of her motherly roles on our behalf. Only when human free will consents to Mary’s titles, can her function as “Spiritual Mother” be fully activated. As St. Augustine reminds us, God created us without us, but he will not save us without us.” God needs our consent to save us, and Mary needs our consent to be fully activate her titles by more completely mediating the infinite graces of Jesus into today’s troubled human drama. The pope’s “yes” to Mary’s spiritual motherhood in the form of a dogma would be not only the pope’s, but in virtue of his universal office, a “fiat” on the part of all humanity, for Mary’s full blown intercession for the contemporary world. Mary’s fiat “freed the Father, in the order of human freedom, to bring us our Redeemer. Now Mary awaits our fiat, in the person and office of the Holy Father, in the order of human freedom, to bring inestimable grace to the world, including the graces necessary for world peace. One observer to this now one hundred year movement commented, “Why not? What could we lose by defining what the Church already teaches about Mary?” Another observer added, “If it’s true, then why not declare it, especially if it’s a truth about Mary?” I heartily agree with both. By 1918, Cardinal Mercier had gathered over 300 bishop petitions and thousands upon thousands of petitions from clergy and faithful to the Holy Father for this fifth Marian dogma. Since these initial petitions inspired by Mercier, over 7 million petitions and over 550 cardinals and bishops have petitioned the popes for the dogma of Mary’s Spiritual Motherhood. Why petitions? Because it’s the Catholic way. Both Pius IX and Pius XII thanked the millions of Christian faithful who had petitioned them for their respective dogmatic proclamations of the Immaculate Conception and Assumption. Canon Law actually encourages the faithful to bring to the attention of the Pastors of the Church issues they deem important for the Church’s good. We are free to do the same. If you agree with Cardinal Mercier, hundreds of Catholic bishops, millions of Catholic faithful, and people like Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, Mother Angelica, and other Catholic leaders and faithful worldwide—that to define Mary as Spiritual Mother of all humanity would bring great graces to the Church—then you can exercise your own Catholic privilege to let the Holy Father know. You are certainly free to petition Pope Francis—a great lover of Our Lady, and one not shy in communicating with his flock—about your perspective regarding defining Mary’s Spiritual Motherhood. With an envelope, three postage stamps, and 5 minutes, you can jot down a quick note to Pope Francis, if you would like to offer him your own personal fiat for the dogma of Mary’s Motherhood. Here’s the Pope’s address: Pope Francis Vatican City 00120 Mary’s fiat brought us Jesus. Your fiat could help Mary bring peace to the world. Prayerfully consider praying for this Marian definition and writing Pope Francis. Great achievements are wrought through humble fiats by humble souls (Cf. Lk. 1:38). On the contrary, I never claimed he was validly elected Nor to the best of my knowledge has Cardinal Burke. Nor again have I claimed to have received messages or the Judgement of heaven on this matter. I merely express my own opinion. Do me at least the courtesy of condemning me for that which I have done rather than condemning me for that which for some reason you imagine I have done.
Padraig, You need to think very carefully about your public post declaring Francis no longer pope. That may (according to canon law) incor an automatic excommunication as its a public act of schism (canon 751, and 1364.1). There is a lot of silliness on various sides of this argument and certainly not a clear enough distinction between doctrine and discipline (of which Pope Francis has full and immediate authority). It is not enough for Cardinal Burke or anyone else to only talk of grave sin. Grave sin is not mortal sin- 2 of the 3 conditions are lacking. Cardinal Burke could not possibly say that every single person living in an adulterous marriage is in mortal sin-since nobody apart from God can know the interior dispositions of those involved. Pope Francis has every right to alter the discipline of when and by whom Holy Communion can be recieved. The critical point is has Francis denied the doctrine of mortal sin? No never. Not once! It should be stated that Cardinal Schonborn related how he asked Ratzinger in 1994 if confessors could still make a decision in confession to those penitents still in irregular marriages -as that had always been what they had been taught in seminary formation going back years. Pope Benedict himself on several occasions said something needed to change because one size does not fit all situations. This is exactly the same doctrine as taught in the catechism concerning other grave sins like masturbation for example. St John Paul II taught the guilt can be lessened massively because of other factors. therefore the single crucial factor in all this is quite simply: Does grave sin= mortal sin? If it does then Holy Communion cannot under any circumstances be given to those in that state. Previous Magisterial teaching clearly states that grave sin does not=mortal sin and that opens the door to what Francis has done. Cardinal Burke in the EWTN interview was very careful not to use the term mortal sin-and for good reason because he cannot judge who is and who isnt. I'll stick my neck out here and say Pope Francis has shown great courage in doing what he has done.Yes, it cannot be denied that he has changed the discipline from what it has been (at least publicly rather than in the internal forum), but he has done it because he knows there are people who will not be in astate of mortal sin, and he knows that they desire to live in love with God even if certain circumastances (eg children in the second marriage) dont allow for a perfect situation to arise. One other aspect should be mentioned. St John Paul said the sin of scandal is also a reason why Holy Communion canno be given to any in a second marriage. I would say that is no longer an issue as it maught have seemed many years ago. For starters, divorve and remarriage is so common that it is seem as just reality (even if a very sad one), but more importantly in terms of Catholics. I dont think most catholics( apart from some traditionalists sadly) would ever judge- or even know if those attending Church were in a sexual relationship or not-or were desiring of judging theier state of grace/sin. I think most catholics in this day and age are realists who knwo the trials and burdens others face, and because of that scandal is not the issue it was. Who goes to Church and looks around saying they must be in mortal sin? Personally I dont think that happens, and if it does then those doing it will face the judgment of God. There really is no need to get worked up about this issue. Pope Francis is on solid theological ground in what he has done, and just as Pius X allowed Holy communion each day and for 7 year olds, Pope francis has the same authority to change discipline. Pope Francis does not believe in second marriages, or adultery. He desires those not in a state of mortal sin to be able to grow in grace which may- God willing allow these situations to change for the better. The Holy Spirit is active today as he was 2000 years ago or before 1960. Please wake up those of you who are allowing temptation to cloud what should be clear. The Holy Spirit is still guiding Pope Francis.
