According to Le Point, one of the worshippers has also been killed. Police have so far only officially confirmed the death the priest, who was "killed with a blade."

Le Point also reports that the attackers shouted "Daesh" (the Arabic acronym for the terrorist group Islamic State) as they broke into the church. This has not been officially confirmed.

 

I've been feeling this too, that we're living in a time when hell is progressively being unleashed on earth and gaining real power over those not walking with the Lord and we'll need the graces of Our Lady's protection and that of the Church to remain at peace and in safety. These times bring to mind the phrase that made headlines during the horrors in Rwanda"there are no devils left in hell".

I sincerely hope the French do not announce they are "searching for a motive" as government officials are known to say in the US. Coming so soon after the Nice attack, and the terrible events in Germany...

 

One of the attackers is believed to be known to the police because he tried to travel to Syria last year.
CNN are reporting that President Hollande is very concerned that this will make the MUSLIM population in France feel under attack.

 

I never thought I would find myself forced to conceal carry at Church, but after this terrorist attack in France it looks like I might start doing so.

It is being reported that this church was on a known ISIS terror target list. Wondering how many people/worshippers in the future, once they discover that their particular church is also on such a list, will be courageous enough to continue to worship there. This is the fear/terror that spreads and controls.

 

Yes, the news channels are saying that particular church was on an ISIS hit list that the police had. One of the killers was a local man who had tried to travel to Syria to join ISIS and had spent time in prison. The police were supposed to be monitoring his movements via an electronic bracelet, yet everyone in the Church would have been murdered and God knows what they would have done to the women if the nun had not escaped and contacted the police. This wasn't some random attack by a lone wolf that the police couldn't possibly have prevented. Hollande praised the police for minimising the deaths, yet made no mention of the failur to protect the Church or monitor the assailant.

Hollande and Valls should resign. With their bloody history of turning on their leaders, I'm surprised that the French are so complacent about these terrorist attacks.

The only votes Hollande can hope for in the future are the Muslim ones. He is desperately pitching to what remains of his support.

 

Actually, I watched Hollande's press conference and he didn't mention the Muslims. That was CNN's interpretation after the press conference. He is desperate. They all are. Sarkozy is coming over all sanctimonious talking about this attack striking at the soul of France. He'll need more than that to gloss over joining up with Hollande's crowd to beat LePenn in the last election.

Some people from Islamic organisations are using this to advance their own agenda. They talk pacifism and kumbaya, never missing an opportunity to stress that ISIS are not Muslims and that there are right wing extremists preaching hate, making Muslims in Europe afraid. I get the impression that their agenda is to have Muslims (probably hand picked by them) placed in key positions out of proportion to their numbers. They give the impression that this "reaching out" will make all the violence go away because ordinary, peace loving Muslims will start co-operating with the police. It's the same old, same old, never let a crisis go to waste.

According to a French Senator on a British channel, "Religions" need to get together to counteract hatred. I won't hold my breath waiting for the day some journalist actually reminds secularists like her that if atheists weren't so anxious to import Muslims, molly coddle them, and teach a distorted version of history in public schools, Europe wouldn't be in this crisis. And the "far right" hatred they are so quick to pin on Christians is actually coming from factions of their own anarchist/far left supporters who are finally realising who are the real victims of their leaders' short sightedness.

 

I know there are people here who will vote Democrat this year and that is your right ... but .... I know .... Let's all just get along & Sing Kumbaya ... NOPE!! .... Both of your words help remove some of the stress at seeing the opposite happening even among Christians in the political, a sign. We'll see concerning Donald, though, his response about Cruz following Cruz' speech to the RNC was not Christlike.

Similar, Stephen Colbert speaks of being a Catholic on his show while at the same time supporting the Left, Bernie, a pro-abort Communist! Crazy. Don't you wish we could reach Colbert? Our prayers...

I came across a message claimed to be from Jesus that says if you vote for Hillary Clinton you will damn your soul to hell.

 

Trump is far from a saint, but to me it is not himself that is most important, but who he represents. He seems to be a lightning rod for the people who are most disaffected with the left-liberal and right-liberal establishments.

He is on record as questioning the necessity of the continuation of NATO and a willingness to work with Vladimir Putin. These strategies would, in my opinion, leave the world a safer place.

It may not be much of a choice, but Trump certainly seems preferable to Clinton. Indeed, Clinton seems to be the most corrupt, out-of-depth political candidate ever to have sought election, in my experience.

 

The thing that strikes me is when Regan was president, who would ever have thought he would have a clue. I think he was a very good president. Who knows Trump could grow in the job. After all the place is riddled with advisors, I think that is where Trump would need to wise up and not allow himself to be manipulated. Just a thought.
